Jesús Viejo
Executive Chairman
Jesús is the co-founder and Chairman of Trefilia Capital. He also co-heads the Board of Directors of Grupo Convex, a real estate company, and Termas de San Joaquín, a local boutique resort. Since 2007, he has served the Board of Directors of Arca Continental. Additionally, he serves on the board of Directors of Grupo Topaz, a privately-owned Mexican firm with operations in the energy, educations management, and real state sectors, and is a member of the Regional Council of BBVA México. He is also the Executive President of Consejo Nuevo León (CONL), an advisory council to the Governor of the State of Nuevo León in charge, by constitutional mandate, of the state’s long term strategic planning. Jesus was deeply involved in the Council’s design and creation. In 2020, CONL was awarded with the United Nations’ Public Service Award for promoting integrated mechanisms for sustainable development. In the nonprofit sector he has focused his time to Higher Education, as such he is a member of the Board of Directors of Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), he is a member of the Advisory Board in Mexico of Harvard’s David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, he is a member of the Harvard Kennedy School Dean’s Council, and he is a member of the CID’s Global Development Council at Harvard University. Prior to Trefilia, he served as Vice President of Economic Research for Emerging Markets in Goldman Sachs in New York and as the Chief Economist in Grupo Alfa in Monterrey. Jesus holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University, a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University, and an Economics Degree from ITESM. Jesús enjoys the outdoors, a good book and is a veteran marathon runner. Dad of three girls.
Cristina Barragán
Vice-Chairman
Cristina is the co-founder and Vice-Chairman of Trefilia Capital. She is a Member of the Private Equity Committee, the Capital Markets Committee and leads the Trefilia Foundation. She also co-heads the Board of Directors of Grupo Convex, a real estate company, and Termas de San Joaquín, a local boutique resort. Recently, Cristina has been an alternate member of the Board of Directors of Arca Continental. She is also the Senior Partner and General Director of Flamenco Estudio, a 9+ years old professional flamenco academy that aims to give students, of all expertise levels, a rounded experience and education of this art. She holds a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard Extension School, and a Business and Management Degree from ITESM. Cristina is a passionate bailaora, proud bookworm and learnholic of psychology and behavioral economics. From all things, she deeply enjoys family time with her husband and her three amazing girls.
Luis M. Galindo
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Luis Manuel is responsible for establishing Trefilia’s investment strategy for both the liquid and illiquid portfolios. He particularly focuses on the execution and operation the alternative portfolio. Prior to Trefilia, he was the CFO & COO of a Consumer Finance startup. He also worked at CEMEX, where he led their retail initiative, Construrama. Prior to that, he was Director of the Strategic Planning Division. For six years Luis was a strategy consultant with Monitor Company based out of Cambridge, MA. At Monitor he was part of the Corporate Finance practice. There he had a chance to work in four different continents in a diverse number of industries: Financial Services, Telecommunications, Consumer Products, Manufacturing and Energy. Luis Manuel is a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee of the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM). He teaches Corporate Strategy at Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey. He is a Board Member of CORDEM, an association that seeks to rebuild communities by empowering women through education. | Luis Manuel holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a degree in Economics from ITESM. In his free time, he tries and fails to exercise & read, and is consistently crushed by his children at chess and X-BOX.
Perla Jiménez
Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Perla is responsible for the day-to-day business operations including office management, legal and estate planning, personal treasury, human capital, risk management and private projects. She also supports the Principal & the CEO to coordinate and assist with the investments and the agenda Trefilia pushes regarding economic and social development. Prior to joining Trefilia, she held various positions within the finance, strategy consulting and marketing management industries, including JPMorgan Private Bank in New York, Sintec Consulting and Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma – Heineken Mexico. In the nonprofit sector she has focused her time to education and the development of civic capacities causes. She is a member of the Yale SOM Mexico Board, of the Consejo Cívico de las Instituciones de Nuevo León (CCINLAC) Board, and of the Capitalismo Social Board (a Centro Eugenio Garza Sada’s initiative that promotes the implementation of socially responsible economic and political philosophy in businesses). She holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, a degree in Economics, and a degree in Law with Minor in Finance from ITESM. Perla is always happy to chat over a glass of wine. Foodie, table decor fan, and random facts junkie. She loves to spend her free time with her husband, her two adorable Shih-Tzus and her son Eugenio.
Elio Speziale
Chief Investment Officer (CIO)
Elio is in charge of implementing investment strategies for all our public equity portfolios and is also responsible for wealth planning, tax compliance, treasury, and debt financing. Prior to joining Trefilia, Elio worked at another Family Office where he was part of the wealth management division and had two leadership roles in portfolio companies in the healthcare space. Elio actively participated in various M&A transactions for the group. Earlier in his career, Elio held positions in corporate finance at multinational companies and co-founded a startup. He currently serves as Board Member of Effeta, an association that promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities. He holds an MBA from IPADE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from ITESM. Husband and father of two awesome kids. Enjoys seafood and grilling.
Ana Tiscareño
Senior Equity Research Analyst
Ana joined Trefilia in 2019 as an Equity Analyst to design and build, in hand with the CIO, an all-equity portfolio with a strong tilt on thematic investing. She plays a key role in sourcing new investment ideas for all portfolios, providing analysis of different industries and following both top-down and bottom-up strategies. Prior to joining Trefilia she worked as an Investment Analyst at a Hedge Fund and a Financial Consulting Firm, in Monterrey, Mexico. Since then, she has been closely involved in capital markets, portfolio construction and macroeconomic analysis. Ana holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from ITESM and is pursuing the CFA Charterholder. During her free time, she enjoys a good meal with friends, reading a book and learning about art.
